WILC will be participating in the Annual Arrowhead, Kettle Moraine, Oconomowoc and Pewaukee Special Education Staff invites you to attend: High School and Beyond: Making the Transition on Wednesday, March 11, 2020
WHO: Parents and students in grades 7-12+ receiving special education services within the Arrowhead, Kettle Moraine, Oconomowoc and Pewaukee School Districts.
WHEN: Wednesday, March 11, 2020, 6:30-8:00 p.m. fair, 8:00-8:30 p.m. college panel
WHERE: Kettle Moraine High School, 349 Oak Crest Dr. Wales, WI 53183
WHY: There are many options and opportunities available as young people leave the high school setting. It is imperative that you and your child make these contacts now. This event provides you with the opportunity to gather some of that vital information and special requirements.
Three Break-Out Sessions from 8-8:30:
● 1. A panel will form to learn more about post-secondary schools to help you better understand the college application process and what services are offered at UW-Milwaukee, UW-Whitewater, UW-Oshkosh, UW-Waukesha, Marquette, WCTC, MATC, and Mansfield Hall.
●2. A panel will form to learn more about inclusive college experiences for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. You will learn about the offerings that individualize services to support students in academics, student housing, social experiences, and practicums/internships offered at the Cutting Edge Program (Madison Edgewood), LIFE Program (University of Whitewater), Shepherd’s College, Bethesda College (Concordia University), and Wisconsin Independent Learning College
● 3. A panel will form to learn more about the process of guardianship and long term services and supports used by individuals with functional limitations and chronic illnesses who need assistance to perform routine daily activities such as bathing, dressing, preparing meals, and administering medications.
